Before that, Hackworth worked for Democratic strategist and The Hill columnist James Carville as a researcher.

According to the company's recently launched website, the firm will take on political candidates, nonprofits, and corporations as clients.

"We gather information from many different sources, both online and onsite, to provide the most thorough and accurate report possible," the firm said.

The launch of M Street Solutions was first reported by Roll Call.

Hackworth isn't the only Obama veteran cashing in. Earlier this year, Jon Favreau, the president's top speechwriter, and Tommy Vietor, his former National Security Council spokesman, founded Fenway Strategies, a political communications consulting firm.
