Social media users resurfaced a tweet from senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway from last year mocking the FBI investigation into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary ClintonHillary Diane Rodham ClintonSessions says FBI agent Peter Strzok no longer has his security clearance Melania Trump puzzles with 'I really don't care' jacket Grassley wants to subpoena Comey, Lynch after critical IG report MORE during a Monday House Intelligence Committee hearing into Russia's interference in the presidential election.

"Most honest people I know are not under FBI investigation, let alone two," Conway tweeted in 2016, sharing a Fox News tweet quoting her as saying in an interview, "If you’re under your 2nd FBI investigation in the same year then you do have a … corruption & an ethics problem.”

Conway's tweet appears to refer FBI Director James Comey's letter to Congress in late October announcing that new material had been uncovered that may have related to the FBI's probe of Clinton's use of a private email server while secretary of State. The FBI said just before the election that that material — emails discovered on the computer of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin's husband Anthony Weiner — did not change the bureau's recommendation that there should be no charges.

Comey confirmed during the hearing on Monday before the House Intelligence Committee that the bureau is investigating Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 election. The FBI is also investigating any links or coordination between Russia and President Trump's campaign.

Many on Twitter were quick to joke in light of the hearing that Conway's tweet "did not age well."
