Pelosi: Boehner 'needs to humor his troops so they can sow their oats'

She said Boehner should pass an emerging Senate deal that would fund the government through Jan. 15 and raise the debt ceiling until Feb. 7.

Since budget talks collapsed last month, Boehner has been giving in to demands made by the most conservative members of his caucus.

Pelosi on Tuesday said House Republicans are holding up a deal.

“The House has a different idea and that is holding up the works a bit and I hope not putting a chilling effect on what is going on in the Senate,” said Pelosi in an interview with Bloomberg Television Tuesday afternoon. “Perhaps the Speaker just needs to humor his troops so they can sow their oats and then get to the responsible place."

Pelosi said she could deliver all 200 Democratic votes in the House if the Speaker were to bring the Senate bill to the floor.

Asked what the chances are for a deal by the Thursday deadline, Pelosi said they’re “good.”
