President Trump on Sunday congratulated the crew of the newest commissioned Navy ship, the USS John Finn.

“The #USSJohnFinn will provide essential capabilities to keep America safe. Our sailors are the best anywhere in the world. Congratulations!” the president tweeted, along with a video of the commissioning ceremony.

The ship, which was named after a San Diego World War II veteran, was commissioned on Saturday at Pearl Harbor.

Lt. John Finn was the recipient of the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Pearl Harbor attacks in 1941.

"During World War II, Chief Finn distinguished himself through heroic service to his fellow Sailors and our nation. I know the men and women who make up the crew of USS John Finn will carry his legacy forward with the same selfless service he distinguished more than 75 years ago," acting Secretary of the Navy Sean Stackly said in a statement.
