Jones likens Bush to a 'crackhead' in latest video gaffe

By Tony Romm - 09/04/09 01:33 PM ET

Another video of White House green jobs czar Van Jones has hit the Web today: This time, Jones labels former President George W. Bush a "crackhead" for his policy to lower the price of foreign oil.

Although it is unclear when and where Jones delivered his diatribe, this latest video is the first in which the subject of Jones' remarks somewhat relates to his work with the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

The clip picks up with Jones in the middle of a sentence: "...the way to bring the price of energy down is to increase the supply. Just begin to drill more. To drill here, to drill there, to liquefy coal... do whatever you can to get more petroleum into our system. And we heard our president saying just that. That's what he wants to do. But I hate to say this, and I hope I don't offend anybody, but the President of the United States sounded like a crackhead when he said that."

As the audience digested the line, vocalizing their shock, Jones began to simulate the president experiencing drug withdrawal. "Just a little bit more, just a little bit more ...  just a little bit more petroleum," he added.

"It was shameful; am I wrong?" Jones asked of the former president's energy policy. "Like a crackhead trying to lick the pipe for a fix."

Already, Jones has been excoriated for calling Republicans "a**holes" and signing a 9/11 "truther" petition. The White House, meanwhile, has said it stands by the embattled green jobs czar.

Whatever happened to the Golden Rule? Van Jones is an embarrasment and a fool. I thought this Admin. was supposed to usher in change hope, not the same old partisan political garbage. GWB a "crackhead?" This is not the behavior of an educated, professional, senior WH official and BHO should not tolerate it.BY E. ONeal-Peoria, IL on 09/04/2009 at 15:50

Ummmmm, so OBAMA didn't know Jones' stances on policy and his big nasty mouth before he hired him? …Must be like sitting in the pews for 20 years and not hearing Rev. Wright's AntiAmerican, Antiwhite, Antisemetic and Antieverything sermons. Perhaps Obama needs a couple of hearing aids?BY freepetta on 09/04/2009 at 16:45
