From the Orlando Sentinel:

After flirting with his own run for Congress, former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz now  appears to be backing Winter Park commissioner Karen Diebel in her bid to oust U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, D-New Smyrna Beach, from her east Central Florida seat.

The old ball coach is scheduled to headline a Diebel fundraiser in Winter Park on Sept. 20, according to a copy of the invitation provided to the Orlando Sentinel by a Republican supporter. Holtz is listed as "special guest and speaker" and by appearing at the $250-per-person event, it appears that Holtz is officially abandoning his own bid -- as Diebel would have been his Republican primary opponent in the race.

Diebel is one of a few challengers to Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (D-Fla.), and Holtz's help should help her in the fundraising chase.
