CBS poll: Voters approve of Obama's health plan, want more specifics
A new CBS poll shows that President Barack Obama's health care address on Wednesday appealed to voters, but it did not clarify many of the confusing points in his proposal.
Before Obama's speech, about 40 percent of surveyed adults expressed approval of the White House's handling of the health care debate. A more discouraging 47 percent indicated they disapproved.
But two days later, Obama's health care approval number is up to 52 percent, and his disapproval rating is down to 38 percent. The jump is especially pronounced among Democrats, eight in 10 of which said they felt positively of the president's ability to handle the reform process.
But the bad news: Almost half said Obama had not clearly explained the details of his health plan. And less than a quarter indicated the health proposals under consideration would "help them personally," according to CBS. That number in particular, CBS adds, has not changed much in the past week.
