Biden makes surprise trip to Iraq
Vice President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Iraq on Tuesday.
Biden flew into Iraq this morning, where he will meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Prime Minister Jalal Talibani, among other top officials.
It is Biden's third visit to the war-torn country this year; he previously visited in January and July.
Biden will also meet with representatives of the United Nations in Iraq, to, according to the White House, "convey the strong U.S. commitment to Iraq's future and national unity."
The trip had previously been unannounced, though the White House did not put out its typical "daily guidance" for Biden's day ahead yesterday.
