Romney says liberals think profits are wrong
Liberals in the U.S. believe that profitability is wrong, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) asserted Friday afternoon.
In a bit of a bizarre claim, Romney argued that liberals truly believe that a government-run economy should replace any private economy.
"The liberals, in their heart believe that the private enterprise system -- profitability, for instance -- that those things are inefficient and wrong, and that a government-run system would be better," Romney said in an interview on the Fox Business Network.
Romney, who made millions as a director of Bain Capital before entering politics, rejected limits on executive compensation as an infringement on freedom.
"No one wants to see excessive pay. But this is a free country," he said. "It's simply wrong to think that government knows better."
