Justice Ginsburg hospitalized
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was taken to a hospital in the Washignton area Thursday after feeling faint.
Ginsburg received an iron sucrose infusion to treat an iron deficiency anemia, according to Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg. About an hour after receiving the treatment, Ginsburg reported feeling “lightheadedness and fatigue,” Arberg said.
The court’s medical staff monitored Ginsburg and judged her to be in “stable health,” according to Arberg, but decided to transfer her to a local hospital at around 7:45 p.m. as a precaution.
Ginsburg, 76, has suffered other health problems this year. On Feb. 5, 2009, she underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer.
