Mayor won't challenge Grayson; Webster decision 'this week'
Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) should soon know who he is facing in 2010, but it won't be Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty (R).
Crotty said in a statement late Monday that he will not be a candidate in the race for the outspoken freshman's seat.
In a statement, Crotty said "a run for Congress is not a good fit at this time."
His exit turns all eyes to former state Sen. Dan Webster, who told the Orlando Sentinel on Monday that he will decide on the race "this week." Crotty and Webster, who have been seen as the big-name potential candidates in the race, talked frequently and agreed that they wouldn't run against each other.
Other GOP options include state Rep. Steve Precourt and state Sen. Andy Gardiner.
