Potential Lungren, Kosmas challengers drop out
Republicans and Democrats have both dropped one candidate from a crowded primary in a top-targeted race.
Against Rep. Dan Lungen (R-Calif.), Elk Grove City Councilman Gary Davis (D) has ended his campaign, which had been getting destroyed on the fundraising front and needed a strong quarter to compete with physician Ami Bera and Sacramento Municipal Utility District director Bill Slaton.
Davis’s exit suggests he wasn’t getting the funds he needed to compete.
Against Rep. Suzanne Kosmas (D-Fla.), state Rep. Dorothy Hukill has dropped her campaign, and now state Rep. Sandy Adams, Winter Park City Comissioner Karen Diebel and others will have one less frontrunner to deal with in the Republican primary.
Both Hukill and Davis are now running for reelection to their current posts.
UPDATE: Perhaps Davis got wind of Bera's third-quarter numbers, which a spokeswoman just told The Hill will trump even Bera's very strong $288,000 second quarter.
