DNC: Steele's reaction like Hamas, Taliban

The Republican National Committee's (RNC) reaction to President Barack Obama's having won the Nobel Peace Prize was comparable to those of Hamas and the Taliban, Democrats said Friday.

In an email to reporters, Democratic National Committee (DNC) press secretary Hari Sevugan pounced on a growing meme online this morning, likening RNC Chairman Michael Steele's condemnation of the award to similar statements from the two terrorist organizations.

Steele had suggested in a statement this morning that the president was undeserving of the award and that his "star power" had overshadowed more worthy candidates.

Sevugan sent an email with the statements from Hamas and Taliban leaders, as well as an excerpt from Fox News's Wendell Goler at the White House, likening Steele's statement to the Taliban.

The comparison seems to have first been made by the media watchdog group Media Matters for America, a left-leaning organization.
