New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D) has taken some heat for allegedly turning his opponent's weight into a campaign issue in a recent ad.
Speaking to the editorial board of the Press of Atlantic City, Corzine defended his controversial ad and laughed off a question about whether Republican Chris Christie was actually overweight:
The ads have been criticized for obliquely referencing the Republican challenger's weight.
"People who flash their credentials or use their offices to accomplish something, people say 'people threw their weight around,' " Corzine said.
Asked directly if he thought Christie was fat, Corzine touched his bare head, smiled and said, "Am I bald?"
