Obama to meet with Bayh tomorrow
President Barack Obama is set to meet with Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) tomorrow one-on-one in the Oval Office.
Bayh, who is a member of the Senate Armed Services and Select Intelligence Committee, is a key lawmaker on the topic of Afghanistan. The president and his national security team are in the midst of a strategic review of the military's fight against the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.
After the meeting, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are scheduled to meet with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.
The second-term senator has called on commanding Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who recently requested more troops be sent to Afghanistan, to speak before the Senate.
Bayh is also a key centrist vote on healthcare reform legislation currently being debated in the Senate.
