Democrat raising big money for Tiahrt's seat
Kansas state Rep. Raj Goyle (D) raised more than $400,000 in the third quarter, serving notice that Democrats will have a well-funded candidate in their uphill run at Rep. Todd Tiahrt's (R-Kan.).
Tiahrt is running for Senate, and Goyle has gotten an increasing amount of attention since entering the race in July. His quarterly total, which is among the best quarters in the country thus far, should reaffirm that he is a force to be reckoned with.
"I'm proud to have the support of so many people who are looking to bring some Kansas common sense to Congress during these challenging times," Goyle said in a statement. "I'm humbled and honored to have the support of business owners, farmers, teachers, medical professionals, and other hard-working Kansans as we begin this campaign."
The Wichita-based district went 58 percent for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) last year and 64 percent for President Bush in 2004.
