Campaign update: Early third quarter Senate numbers
In lieu of reporting everything separately, here are some highlights from this morning's third quarter Senate filings:
-Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) outraised Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) $1.3 million to $1.1 million and has a $2.3 million to $1.8 million edge in cash on hand.
-Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson (R) raised just $640,000, which means he lost the quarter to primary opponent Rand Paul's $1 million. Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo (D) previously reported raising $514,000. Still waiting on state Attorney General Jack Conway (D).
-Former Rep. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) raised $1.3 million and has $5.1 million on hand. Portman raised more in each of the least two quarters ($1.7 million each), but he is still outpacing both of his potential Democratic opponents, who haven't announced their totals yet.
-Sen. Arlen Specter raised $1.8 million to beat former Rep. Pat Toomey's (R-Pa.) strong $1.5 million. Specter has a robust $8.7 million on hand. Still waiting on primary opponent Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.).
-Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff (R) isn’t chipping away at Sen. Robert Bennett’s (R-Utah) war chest too quickly. He raised $100,000 in the third quarter. Bennett hasn't announced totals yet, but he had more than $900,000 on hand after the second quarter.
-Chicago Urban League President Cheryle Robinson Jackson (D) raised $355,000, putting her behind three Democratic opponents in the money chase.
-Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) raises another $1 million to outpace primary opponent and former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff (more than $200,000), as well as former Lt. Gov. Jane Norton's (R) partial-quarter $505,000.
UPDATE: A previous version of this post misstated Grayson's fundraising totals as $1.2 million. Regret the error.
