Redskins donate $50,000 to McDonnell
Since they have struggled on the field, the Washington Redskins are looking to get behind a winner any way they can.
The NFL franchise donated $50,000 to Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell (R), who holds a high-single digit lead over his opponent Creigh Deeds (D), according to a Washington Post report.
The Post's decision to endorse Deeds, however, has given the Democratic candidate a boost.
The $50,000 donation made the Redskins one of McDonnell's largest contributors.
The Redskins have a 2-4 record this year, including three losses to previously winless opponents (excluding their opening week loss to the New York Giants).
