Ensign's parents donate to Reid
The parents of Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) are chipping in to help re-elect their son's fellow Nevadan, Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Ensign's parents, Mike and Sharon Ensign, each gave $4,800 to Reid, the max allowed under the law, CQ Politics reports.
The elder Ensigns made headlines this summer when it was reported they gave $96,000 to Sen. Ensign's former mistress.
Reid is facing a tough re-election battle in 2010, with polls showing him lagging behind his potential opponents.
Records show that the Ensigns have donated mainly to Republicans over the years. But Sharon Ensign for some reason donated up $10,000 to the Nevada Democratic Party in January of 2008.
Mike Ensign donated $3000 to Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) between April 2004 and January 2006.
