Santorum says Hoffman is practical choice

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) has joined the growing chorus of conservatives backing Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman in New York's special election.

Santorum, interestingly, takes the same tack that Newt Gingrich used in making the case for GOPer Dede Scozzafava -- that his is the candidate who has the best chance of winning and keeping the seat in Republican hands.

According to the National Review, Santorum said on Bill Bennett's radio show: "The Republican candidate has been in the process of disqualifying herself. ... You’re not throwing your vote away on [Hoffman]. ... This is a race that we need to win. ... The best change (sic) for a conservative ... a Republican ... to win this race ... is Doug Hoffman."

Chris Baker is desperately slinging mud.Hoffman is the only conservative in the race, the other two are liberals. Hoffman is right for the district, the other two liberals are wrong for it. Liberals like Chris Baker dont like him, what else is new.BY PJ on 10/23/2009 at 15:08
