GOP congressional candidate is the latest to back Hoffman

Endorsing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over the Republican in New York's special election is the new fad among conservatives, and now everyone's getting in on it.

Faced with a race-to-the-right GOP primary in Oklahoma's 5th district, former state Rep. Kevin Calvey is the latest to announce his support for Hoffman over Republican Dede Scozzafava.

Calvey also had some choice words for the Republican nominee.

“The Republican Party establishment’s nomination of an ultra-liberal for Congress symbolizes why the Republican Party lost Congress a few years ago,” Calvey said.  “If the Republican Party can’t stand on principle, then it should step aside and allow principled third-party candidates to run. I will be part of the vanguard in Congress fighting to return the Republican Party to its fiscally conservative roots. And I have already started, by making a personal contribution to Conservative Party (candidate) Doug Hoffman’s campaign.”
