Walden thanks well-wishers after swine flu recovery
The first lawmaker diagnosed with H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, took to Twitter on Thursday to thank his well-wishers after he recovered from the illness.
Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) said that he is "fully recovered" and stayed out of the office all week during his recovery. The congressman made his diagnosis public via the microblogging site last Tuesday.
He tweeted today:
Thanks to all well wishers. Fully recovered from flu after days of fever, chills, etc. Followed CDC guidelines; stayed out of office all wk.
Walden, nor his office at the time of diagnosis, specified treatments he received. But the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says that most patients only require rest and limited contact with others. Some patients may be prescribed antiviral medication to combat the illness.
Before Walden's diagnosis, 10 House pages were treated for flu-like symptoms in order to prevent an outbreak of the deadly disease.
