The political chattering class might frequently solicit former Vice President Dick Cheney's thoughts on Afghanistan, but current VP Joe Biden stressed Friday that he was not among that group.
When asked to respond to Cheney's criticism earlier this week that President Barack Obama was dithering and stalling his decision about troop levels in Afghanistan, Biden merely told CNN: "I like Dick Cheney personally, but I really don't care what Dick Cheney thinks."
"Look at the policy they left us in Afghanistan," the vice president added. "I think the president is doing exactly what any president should do. And by the way, the military thinks that too."
Nevertheless, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Friday repeated he was not sure when the president would ready and announce his decision about a new strategy in Afghanistan. Consequently, that uncertainty has only emboldened the president's Republican critics, who say he's dragging his feat and ignoring his generals on the ground.
