Limbaugh fires away at Obama administration
President Barack Obama is a "radical" leader, and his administration's approach to healthcare reform and the war in Afghanistan both constitute an "attack on liberty" and an "attack on freedom," conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Sunday.
"We've never seen this kind of radical leader at such a high level of power in this county," Limbaugh told Fox News Sunday's Chris Wallace, adding that he voted for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008, despite routinely criticizing McCain on air during the campaign.
Of course, Limbaugh has never been a fan of Obama. He has long accused the president of "dithering" in his decision whether to send troops to Afghanistan, or excoriated the president for "taking over" healthcare, and thus, a key sector of the national economy -- two arguments he repeated Sunday. But the radio host seemed particularly aggravated with the White House this weekend, just days before the president celebrates one year since voters sent him to high office.
"I don't think he cares much about [Afghanistan]," Limbaugh said of the president's strategy-making process. "Again, if he cared about victory... he wants to manage this rather than achieve victory. He says these things."
And on healthcare: "It is going to be the big snatch of freedom and liberty in the history of this country," he said.
Limbaugh also predicted that Democrats and their tactics would hurt only themselves in subsequent elections, but he dismissed any suggestion that Republicans' "tent" was growing smaller and forcing out those who were not incredibly far toward the political right.
"There's no central Republican message," he added, noting that Republicans need to rally together. "Right now it's just opposition to Obama."
