Wilson unofficially stumps for Christie
The congressman famous for interrupting the president's speech in September tried to lend New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie (R) a last-minute hand on Sunday.
Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), who was rebuked by Congress this year after he shouted "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's address to Congress, hosted a get-out-the-vote rally for Christie this morning, along with James O'Keefe, the man who impersonated a pimp and video taped his interactions with ACORN staff members.
The event, organized by a local Tea Party group, was neither sponsored nor authorized by Christie's campaign. According to organizers, the Republican candidate did not even agree to appear at the rally, even though "he's only going to be half a mile away" at another campaign function, as first reported by The Record.
Nevertheless, a slew of polls show Christie within the margin of error of Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine -- and the most recent measure shows Christie actually besting Corzine by one -- about 48 hours ahead of Election Day.
