The Republican National Committee (RNC) is encouraging people to "vote conservative" in tomorrow's special election in New York's 23rd congressional district.
An RNC radio ad, running Monday and Tuesday in the district, encourages voters to support "Republican, conservative values" without mentioning Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman by name.
The last minute push for Hoffman marks a shift for the RNC, which had supported endorsed Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava in the race until Saturday, when Scozzafava suspended her flagging campaign.
The RNC quickly endorsed Hoffman, who'd nabbed many traditional Republican voters in the race, before Scozzafava turned around on Sunday to endorse Democratic candidate Bill Owens.
The 60-second ad, entitled "Echo," makes no mention of any of the three candidates in the race, but takes aim at Democratic proposals, as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and unpopular incumbent Gov. David Paterson (D).
