Boehner regrets backing Scozzafava

The top-ranking House Republican told reporters that he regrets having supported former New York GOP House candidate Dede Scozzafava Monday afternoon.

Scozzafava, the official Republican Party candidate in the special election in New York's 23rd district, dropped out of the race over the weekend and then endorsed the Democrat.

"This lady clearly has as agenda that's different than most Republicans; she was out there promoting herself," House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said, noting that he has encouraged all members of the GOP conference to support Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.

No, Congressman Boehner, she doesn't have a different agenda from most sitting R's, OR D's: like most of Congress, she's out there promoting herself. Rather than principles. I'd like to know how she really got the nomination and exactly what the WH promised her, and what the promise is now that she lost and is backing the dem. Scozzafava was by far the most qualified candidate. She knew the issues better than Owens, and FAR better than Hoffman. I strongly resent out-of-state Republicans interfering in my district. They don't know what they're talking about, and their interfering is going to affect my life, not theirs. Their issues are not the district's issues. A US rep has nothing to do with abortion rights. A US rep doesn't vote on a Supreme Court justice. A US rep will likely have nothing to say about same-sex marriage. Yet not one political observer, politician, or pundit (God, I hate that word) has brought that up. I resent my district being a pawn in a Republican purge. When this election is over, Sarah Palin, Mic[***]e Malkin, et al will go their merry ways, and I will have to live with the fallout of their circle-jerk. I'm a Republican, but I'm getting fed up with the b.s. They don't realize how many people they're alienating, and to hear them tell it, they don't care. Fine. At least Boehner had the guts to come out and admit he was wrong about it. Too little, too late? Yes, but he did redeem himself more thatn Chairman Steele! Steele and the upstate GOP owe the American People and the people of NY23 an explanation of how the liberal sheep got the GOP nomination. Boehner should demand that of Chairman Steele also. The two parties are coming apart at the seams and the American People are finally standing up for themselves and electing true representatives that understand our beliefs and are willing to go to Congress and fight for them instead of taking the Holier than thou approach. None of you are any smarter than the rest of us. That is not why you were elected. It will be why you're not re-elected though. Time to CLEAN the HOUSE! This must be tough for Boehner and others, Dem and Rep, in Congress —— We don't give a flying leap who these "party operatives" endorse. — Truly, this is no longer "business as usual". — We are Very, Very Angry about getting the shaft. — If I owed the IRS $40,000 as Geithner did, I wouldn't be sitting in a WH office, I'd be chilling out in some unpleasant penitentiary. — Whatever happens in NY23, this is not merely a GOP problem, this is Dems and Independents, as well. — D.C. and the media must think we've all gone to same public schools and never learned to read. — Ooh! Boehner doesn't get it yet. He's sorry about Dede's backstabbing, but what he should really be lamenting is that a person with her positions, even without the backstabbing, was chosen in the first place at this most critical time.So I guess Dede would have been ok, had she not imploded and backstabbed? With the consitutional republic hanging in the balance, it's ok with Boehner that a liberal be seated, as long as there's an R after her name?This is precisely what is wrong with the Republican Party, and why so many are fed up.
