Virginia's two senators aren't talking much about Democrat Creigh Deeds' chances to win their state's governor's mansion Tuesday night.
Asked by The Hill for a prediction on Deeds' challenge against Republican Bob McDonnell, former Gov. Mark Warner (D-Va.) was hesitant, saying only that he was "cautiously optimistic." Pressed for
a percentage prediction, Warner passed. "I'll take it by one vote," he said.
Warner said he campaigned with Deeds on Monday night but is still recovering from a weekend attack of the flu. He said he hopes to attend Deeds' election night party in Richmond tonight.
Webb wasn't nearly as bold as Warner. Asked for his prediction on the gubernatorial election, Webb simply ignored the question and said nothing.
