GOP lawmakers to join Family Research Council healthcare webcast
The lobbying arm of the conservative Family Research Council on Tuesday will host an online webcast featuring three Republican lawmakers regarding healthcare reform and election results.
House Republican Conference chairman Mike Pence (Ind.), Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), and Charles Boustanty (R-La.) will join conservative activists on the online event at 8:30 p.m. FRC Action president Tony Perkins will also speak during the conference titled "Government Takeover of Health Care: Counting the Cost."
Boustany, who is a physician, delivered the Republican rebuttal to President Barack Obama's address on healthcare reform before a joint session of Congress in September. Bachmann is an outspoken critic of Obama and congressional Democrats.
The lawmakers join the call on a day when House Republican lawmakers are touting their efforts to read the Democrats' health bill released last week line-by-line.
They will likely discuss the preliminary returns from today's high profile gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia as well as a hotly contested special House election in New York. Republicans have touted the races as an opportunity to gain momentum heading into the 2010 midterm elections. Democrats have downplayed the races as bellwethers.
