Congressman had no time to park his car
A Republican lawmaker was allegedly rushed for time on Sunday afternoon and parked his car on a curb at Charlotte Airport in order to catch a flight.
The Gaston (N.C.) Gazette reported last night that one of their employees on Sunday found Rep. Patrick McHenry's (R-N.C.) blue Ford Explorer parked atop a curb at the end of a row of parked cars. The vehicle's front tires were on the curb while the back wheels occupied part of the driving area of the parking lot.
The Explorer has licence plates that read "U.S. House 10," corresponding with the third-term lawmaker's district. The back window also had on it a McHenry campaign bumper sticker.
McHenry's communications director Brock McCleary told the Gazette that the congressman was running late.
"He was running late for a flight and there were no available parking spots," McCleary wrote in an e-mail to the paper on Monday. "He made a mistake in not leaving the vehicle in a proper parking spot."
McCleary on Tuesday told the paper that the situation had been resolved.
"It has been moved," he said.
