Ailing Rep. Linda Sánchez will vote on healthcare bill

By Bob Cusack - 11/06/09 12:36 AM ET

Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-Calif.), who has missed almost every vote this week, will be in the House chamber on Saturday to support the Democrats' healthcare reform bill.

The congresswoman and her son both have the flu, according to Sánchez spokeswoman Marsha Catron.

Catron added in an e-mail, "She will be there to vote for the Affordable Health Care for America Act -- so that all Americans will have access to quality, affordable health care and so that women will no longer be discriminated against nor denied coverage.”

House Democrats need every vote they can get. At least a dozen Democrats are vowing to reject the bill while few, if any, Republicans will support it.

Earlier this year, Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) returned to the House from rehab to vote for climate change legislation. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), recovering from back surgery, also came back to the lower chamber to register his yes vote on the climate measure, which passed 219-212.

If this elcrapo mafia bill is passed I can't wait for the Supreme Court to overturn this gangster peice of elcrapo and all employees of the government, that mob ruled the vote are convicted and sent to prison. This is illegal the threats that are being made to Congressman for a foney fraudulent healthcare bill.. obamas replacement is facing charges in Illionois for less then what is going on in Washington DC right now.BY jake2 on 11/06/2009 at 04:00

You go Linda Sanchez! Thank you for supporting this most important and much needed legislation.BY Tony M on 11/06/2009 at 10:38
I hope Rep. Sanchez rethinks her vote. This fertive, rush to assemble a bill, any bill, is foolish and thoughtless. It is 1900 pages of chaos. Why can't the private sector sort this out? Why can't Health Ins. companies be compelled to compete across state lines? Why is there no tort reform? Why the necessity to shackel the economy of the U.S. with a mountain of debt? The government has never run anything that did not cost more than originally planned. Linda Sanchez, stay at home, take care or your sick child, and give the people you represent a break by not voting "yea" on this abominationBY Suzanne Guillow on 11/07/2009 at 10:58
Rep. Sanchez,Thank you for your years of service. Unfortunately, your choice to vote for this legislation will force me to do everything I can to keep you from being reelected. I am sorry you and your son are not well right now, but you will not be subject to the health care you just voted for. You say its good enough for me but not good enough for you and yours. Also, I can no longer stand by and have my tax dollars fund abortion and force doctors to perform abortions on demand regardless of their personal feelings.Again, thank you for years of service…but this will be your last year.BY Tim Osborn on 11/08/2009 at 11:55
I can't support anyone who would vote for a bill that they haven't read, someone who blindly supports the 'party' instead of the people. There's no time to waste. I'll be working to replace you as my representative.BY Linda Briggs, Lkwd on 11/08/2009 at 16:00
