Rep. Danny Davis to seek reelection to House

Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) said Monday he'll run for reelection to his House seat, abandoning a race for the presidency of the Cook County Board.

The Associated Press reported that Davis has decided to pursue another term in the House seat he's held since being elected in 1996.

Davis had been openly flirting with a bid for the top position among Chicagoland's commissioners, having previously filed paperwork to prepare for the bid.

But the AP said Monday that Davis feared he would split votes with the three other African-American candidates in that race, leading to his decision to withdraw on Monday, the reported deadline by which the congressman would have had to drop out.
