McCain gets signed copy of Palin book

By Michael O'Brien - 11/14/09 11:08 AM ET

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) gave her former running mate a signed copy of her new book the weekend before it's due on bookshelves.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, said that Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, had sent him a signed copy of her new book, "Going Rogue."

"I've just received a signed copy from her yesterday, so I will read it with interest," McCain told reporters in Arizona, according to CNN.

The book, due out Tuesday, contains a number of shots at former campaign aides that were loyal to McCain, a sign that Palin's book may air dirty laundry from last year's campaign.

McCain downplayed that possibility, and stuck up for Palin.

"One of the things about campaigns that lose, there's always mistakes made and the campaign that wins is always the perfect campaign," the senator said. "I'm proud of the campaign we ran. I'm proud of Sarah Palin and we continue to have a great and wonderful relationship.

Palin, for her part, has said it was an "incredible honor" to run alongside McCain on the GOP ticket last fall.

No. 1 bestseller 5 chapters of whining and blaming. Have fun reading that Mccain. I wouldn't tough that book with a 10ft poleBY Davy Crockett on 11/14/2009 at 12:08
Senator McCain served our country honorably and for that I will always respect him. However, his politics make him a liberal republican at best. From the start, McCain ran a nieve and inept campaign. He didn't allow his supporters to refer to mr Obama's middle name "Hussein" because it supposedly wasn't appropriate. Then he agreed to a ridiculous campaign contributions deal with candidate Obama that put Obama at a great advantage. Obama went back on his word, like all lying politicians, and accepted all contributions including foreign. McCain, was a good nieve boy scout and kept his word! The only smart move that McCain did is select Gov Palin for his running mate; but he and his stupid handlers screwed that up too. Also, this so-called conservative republican party needs to quit trotting out old war-vet candidates like the ones that Clinton and Obama humiliated. The dems trotted out John Glenn and he wasn't even nominated. Lesson learned. Why can't we conservatives do the same? GOV SARAH PALIN IS THEE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO OUR PARTY SINCE REAGAN. THE SNOBS AT THE RNC AND WASHINGTON NEED TO REALIZE THAT BEFORE OBAMA WINS A SECOND TERM AND FINISHES DESTROYING OUR GREAT NATION !!!BY Carlos on 11/14/2009 at 12:30
Before the Most Honorable John McCain became politically correct, I would have followed him on a missionto Heartbreak Ridge, with a slingshot. His advisors miscued Him. Nevertheless Senator McCain, you should file a "Restraining Order" against Sarah Palin. She already put a nail in your political coffin. Stop her now!Regardless Sir, You are the "last of the Mohigans," andI appreciate You.BY Edmond on 11/14/2009 at 13:35
"Carlos," it's a llittle more indepth than "It was a Black Man." The country wont go down because of one Man,any one man. The country is going down because of White Supremacy and Greed. The Europeans divided the world among themselves after WWII because of Natural Resources. In designing this scenario, the White Folksdidn't take into account that when changing borders and the names of countries, they were cutting across and thru cultural boundaries and ethnic regions that had existed, in some instances, since the beginning of time. This is what has caused conflict and confusion, Now the EU wants to divide the world into economic zones. That's what all the wars are about now. White Supremacy and Greed. Check it out.BY Edmond on 11/14/2009 at 13:50
PRESIDENT OSAMA IS BOWING TO EMPERORS NOW.http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/11/obama-emperor-akihito-japan.htmlBY DISGUSTED on 11/14/2009 at 14:31
First off, Edmond, your grasp of history - though perhaps considered clever in some circles, includes glaring errors not only in logic, but as regards historic fact…reminds me of something one would write for a freshman poli-sci 101 essay – strident but misguided. Your emotion trumps truth, and ultimately when you allow that to occur, the result abuses not only true history, but the intelligence of the reader.Sarah Palin's critics are robotic and predictable. McCain and Palin have always had a genuinely amicable relationship. They respect each other and it shows. She energized his campaign and serious, intelligent (if not Ivy League) commentators knew it then and will admit it now; John McCain has said as much. She still inflames the snobs and RINOs - so be it. Palin showed class in the midst of the campaign, in spite of personal crises; and for those who actually pay attention to what she says versus what is said ABOUT her, she maintains class and dignity now. Unlike other individuals elected to public office, she doesn’t claim to be more than she is. And Sarah Palin is no whiner. Rather, she CHOOSES to respond to hostile critics who have violated the bounds of common decency as they’ve launch attacks against her children. The critics seek to re-write history, deliberately miscasting Palin’s character, intellect, and motivation George W. Bush was slammed around by such individuals for eight years, and did not fight back because he believed that doing so would denigrate the office of the Presidency. Though his intentions are noble, not defending himself has distorted the truth and cost him personally. A populist performs to please the whims of the crowd, but a man or woman of principle chooses to do things based on truth. President Bush acted on principle and so does Sarah Palin.BY Flo on 11/14/2009 at 15:28

"Punch will stun West," reads the headline above the fold on Drudge this Tuesday. The line refers to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent, vague promise this week to somehow "punch the arrogance" of the West on February 11. Also above the fold: A slew of weather-related links, including a report from the National Weather Service that predicts more snow for the already buried Capitol.… Read More »

"Healthcare theatrics" reads the banner atop The Huffington Post, which links to an AP story on the White House's struggle to bring GOP leaders to the table for a televised healthcare summit. The AP questions whether the event may have any utility outside of immediate personal politics. Below, reporter Sam Stein reports Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) plans to vote against the White House's nominee for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Craig Becker.… Read More »

Moe Lane this morning summarizes the latest back-and-forth between the White House and congressional GOP leaders over healthcare. The White House wants Republicans to join Democrats for a televised healthcare summit in the coming days, but GOP leaders do not want Democrats' bill to be the basis for those talks. Meanwhile, Brian Darling takes on NYT columnist Paul Krugman's latest piece, in which he rails on the filibuster (and the GOP's use of it). "He is clearly way outside of his area of expertise when talking about Senate procedure, because his analysis is laughable," Darling writes.… Read More »

Lietzau handled the military commissions the Supreme Court later found unconstitutional, and Ackerman reports that he will soon become Deputy Assistant Secretary for Detainee Affairs.Earlier, David Weigel shared Defense Secretary Robert Gates' thoughts on the passing of Pennsylvania Rep.
