'Redskins' name to stay

The Washington Redskins franchise is celebrating two surprising wins this week -- the first against the Denver Broncos, the second in a federal court.

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear arguments in a lingering dispute between Native American leaders and the NFL team over its name, which activists have long maintained is both offensive to their heritage and ineligible for trademark.

The high bench offered no comment as to why it did not take the case -- perhaps a nod to lower courts, which have previously ruled that Native American activists waited too long to bring forward their arguments.
