Ted Jr. sides with Pagliuca, Khazei on healthcare
Ted Kennedy Jr. says he has no plans to endorse in the race for his father's seat, but he is weighing in on healthcare.
Kennedy sided with Boston Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca and City Year co-founder Alan Khazei over the bill, saying abortion restrictions shouldn't prevent its passage. Frontrunner Martha Coakley and Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.) have said the abortion restrictions are dealbreakers.
"He wouldn’t have wanted to go backwards on reproductive rights, but he thought that perfect is the enemy of good,’" Kennedy told the Boston Globe. “And if you have a good bill, you should pass that and not wait for the most perfect piece of legislation.’’
It's interesting that Kennedy is making his voice heard on this issue, while maintaining his neutrality. Speculation has been that, if the Kennedy family backed anybody in the race, it would probably be Capuano.
Kennedy's comments work decidedly against Capuano in this instance.
