Reid touts CBO score of health bill at press conference
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) touted the Congressional Budget Office's score of his chamber's healthcare bill at a press conference Wednesday evening.
The CBO reported the proposal would spend $849 billion over 10 years to cover 31 million of the uninsured and reduce the federal budget deficit by $127 billion over 10 years.
"This bill is going to go good things for so many people in our society," Reid said at the conference. "We can't afford to really overlook what this is all about...or who this is all about."
Reid added that the bill is estimated to ensure that 98 percent of Americans have healthcare coverage. He also addressed critics who say the bill will cut Medicare, saying that "we don't only protect Medicare, we are making it stronger."
He also said the full bill will be put online later tonight.
