Former Bush press secretary Perino appointed to Obama administration post

Former press secretary to President George W. Bush Dana Perino was appointed as a member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) Wednesday evening.

The board governs all government sponsored, non-military international broadcasting outlets, such as Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, and Alhurra. The BBG is a nine member, bipartisan panel.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) urged the Obama administration to appoint Perino.

Perino is currently a Chief Issues Counselor for the United States at Burson-Marsteller, an international public relations firm, and is a contributor to Fox News.

The Obama administration and Fox News have openly feuded for several months. The White House has accused Fox of injecting opinion into its news coverage of the administration.

Walter Isaacson, President of the Aspen Institute, was appointed chairman of the BBG, which was created in 1994.

To bad Richard doesn't like smart and attractive women like Dana Perino. If she had a chance she could certainly put him in his place but she would never lower herself. I'm always curious about men like this who exude such sexism. I'm sure Dana would give him a handup and not a put down.as he did to her. Is it just me, or does CME's post make absolutely no sense, whatsoever? I mean, I think the person's saying Dana Perino wasn't old enough to have lived through the Missile Crisis, but I didn't live through WW2 yet I still know about that and what it meant. Same for WW1 and the Civil War.I don't really understand the reference to "The Missiles of October" except it shows anyone who wanted to could have learned something about the occasion where the US nearly went to war with Russia, a war that could have lead to the destruction of both through nuclear bombs.And no, CME, I did not forget the "a" in my middle name; some of us have different spellings of our names from what you seem to think they should be…and "Michel" is how it is on my birth certificate. Perino always did a pretty good job of explaing Bush's positions which the MSM were all to keen to savage. She was more than able to defuse their default attitude (ie ' let's knock Bush') and did so with intelligence, poise, conviction and clarity, She came away with her reputation considerably and desrvedly enhanced.BY Mike on 11/19/2009 at 03:53
