Former Reid chief of staff appointed to Obama administration post

Former chief of staff to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) Susan McCue was appointed by President Barack Obama as a member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) Wednesday night. 

The board governs all government sponsored, non-military international broadcasting outlets, such as Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, and Alhurra. The BBG is a nine member, bipartisan panel.

McCue served as Reid's chief of staff from 1999 to 2006. During much of that time Reid Served as Democratic Whip. He succeeded former Sen. Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) as Minority Leader in 2005 and became Majority Leader after the 2006 elections in which Democrats took back the Senate.

McCue currently works as President of Message Global, a strategic advocacy firm she founded in 2008 for social action campaigns. 

Walter Isaacson, President of the Aspen Institute, was appointed chairman of the BBG, which was created in 1994.
