Boehner calls Senate bill 'same nonsense' that passed the House
House Minority Leader John Boehner called the Senate healthcare bill "the same nonsense that passed the House."
Boehner (R-Ohio) guffawed when asked if the bill released by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was more fiscally responsible than the House-passed bill. The Congressional Budget Offfice (CBO) estimated the Senate will would cost $849 billion over 10 years while reducing the federal deficit by $127 billion during that time.
"Are you kidding me? [Reid's bill has a lower CBO score] because benefits start a year later. What a surprise! This is over a trillion dollars. It's the same nonsense that passed the House. It's 2,074 pages, gimme a break. The American people have soundly rejected this," the top-ranking House GOP lawmaker said at a press conference Thursday morning.
"I told you months ago how popular it was -- as popular as a garlic milkshake," Boehner continued.
