Palin popular among Iowa Republicans

More than two-thirds of Iowa Republicans view Sarah Palin favorably, according to a new Des Moines Register poll, putting her in relatively strong position to contend in the 2012 caucuses.

68% of Iowa Republicans like the former Alaska Governor, while 24% have an unfavorable opinion. Compare that to the 70%-12% margin for Mike Huckabee, who won the 2008 GOP caucuses in the sate.

Only 58% of Iowa GOPers have a favorable opinion of Mitt Romney.
