Democrat's poll shows her leading in Putnam's district
Rep. Adam Putnam's (R-Fla.) seat is looking like a real Democratic pickup opportunity, according to a new Democratic poll.
Democratic Polk County Elections Supervisor Lori Edwards just put out a poll showing her leading Republican former state Rep. Dennis Ross, 46-42, in the open-seat race.
The Greenberg Quinlan Rosner poll of 400 likely voters is a good sign for Edwards, who has been plagued by lackluster fundraising early on in her campaign. The memo is quick to note that Edwards's edge isn't due to a name recognition advantage, because when only those voters are considered, her lead actually grows to nine.
Edwards also appears to be outperforming her party, with the memo stating that Edwards is running 10 points better than a generic Democratic. It doesn't elaborate on what exactly that means (no crosstabs or survey questions were provided), but it does appear that a generic Democrat is running significantly behind in a district that went 50-49 for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
