Business groups launch latest salvo against Senate health bill
A coalition of business groups launched a new multi-million dollar salvo against the Senate's health reform bill.
The group Employers for a Healthy Economy, a group representing employers association and small businesses, launched a new ad urging senators to start over on health reform efforts.
The ad buy is worth multi-millions according to a spokeswoman for the coalition, and will air on national cable stations in Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Virginia -- states home to centrist senators whose votes will determine the fate of the Senate healthcare legislation.
The latest round of ads from the group comes amidst volleying with other health organizations and action groups with a vested interest in the health bill. Labor-backed groups have spent millions to promote health reform proposals in the House and Senate, and the AARP has spent considerable amounts to promote reform efforts, as well.
The business coalition launching the latest ad includes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers, and National Retail Federation, among a slew of other employer associations representing businesses.
