King still pressing for info from Social Secretary
Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) is pressing ahead in his attempt to make White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers a part of the congressional inquiry into the party crasher uproar.
The ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, King tried unsuccessfully yesterday to subpoena Rogers. Committee Democrats did subpoeana the Salahis, but denied King's request on procedural grounds.
The White House denied a request to have Rogers testify voluntarily, citing executive privilege.
King is now sending a letter to Rogers, asking her to answer a series of questions about the state dinner.
"For the Committee to understand fully how this breach in security occurred at the White House, it is essential for the Committee to take testimony from the White House official who is responsible for the creation and vetting of the guest list," King wrote.
Among the things, Kings wants to know why no one from the White House Social Office was present at Secret Service checkpoints, as had been customary at previous state dinners. The White House has already announced that they will reinstitute this policy at future events.
