Specter to raise money for primary-neutral Carney
Rep. Chris Carney (D-Pa.) just endorsed in the Democratic primary in Rep. Jim Gerlach's (R-Pa.) seat, but he has yet to do so in the state's Senate primary.
Even though Carney hasn't committed, though, he's benefitting next week from fundraising help from Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.). Specter is set to appear at an event for Carney on Tuesday (the event was initially scheduled for last Saturday).
So does that mean Carney will stand behind Specter in his primary with Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.)? So far, only Reps. Tim Holden and Chaka Fattah have backed the party-switching senator.
To be sure, it would be odd for Specter to raise money for Carney and then have Carney turn around and back Sestak. But a source close to Specter also says no endorsement is in the works for the senator just yet, either.
