Sessions: Griffith's conservatism 'has never wavered'
National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) commended Rep. Parker Griffith (R-Ala.) for switching parties on Tuesday and thereby sticking by his conservative principles.
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) said in a statement that Griffith's choice shows that his committment to his ideology trumps his former status as a Democrat.
The Texas lawmaker added that the freshman's move shows that the Democratic agenda is becoming even more unpopular.
“This decision is emblematic of the message that millions of concerned citizens have been trying to send to a Democrat Party that has become increasingly unwilling to listen," Sessions said.
Some reports now say that a number of Republicans vying for Griffith's seat in 2010 will still challenge Griffith in the primaries after it was reported this morning that he would switch parties.
