McKinley launches campaign site vs. Mollohan
West Virginia businessman David McKinley (R) has launched a campaign website for a run against Rep. Alan Mollohan (R-W.Va.).
McKinley, on whom the NRCC has been focusing its efforts in recent weeks, says on his new McKinley2010.com site that he hopes "to see you on the campaign trail" and repeatedly refers to his "campaign." He has made no official campaign launch as yet.
McKinley is a former state delegatewho ran unsuccessfully in the Republican primary for governor in 1996. He is also a former state GOP chairman.
The NRCC sees him as a top-tier recruit who could turn the race into a toss-up or at least scare Mollohan enough to make the longtime incumbent consider retiring.
Before he can get to Mollohan, though, McKinley faces a primary with state Sen. Clark Barnes and other candidates.
