Tied poll shows Brown's momentum
Scott Brown and Martha Coakley are tied, but Brown has all the momentum.
The latest poll on the Massachusetts Senate race, conducted by Research 2000 for the liberal site DailyKos, has Brown and Coakley tied at 48.
Research 2000 also polled the race last week, at which time Coakley led 49-41. That survey was conducted for the liberal Massachusetts blog Blue Mass Group.
The Daily Kos poll was put in the field three days after the Blue Mass Group poll and ended four days later. That means Brown gained eight points in a matter of half a week.
Other recent polling has Brown up by small but significant margins. Pollsters, though, cite Brown's momentum, and Democrats are beginning to embrace their potential defeat.
“It looks like a win of better than 10 percent,” David Paleologos, director of the Political Research Center at Suffolk University, said on MSNBC on Monday. “All three bellwethers show a double-digit lead [for Brown]. They all show at least a 10-point lead. I think that Brown, from our statewide poll, has continued momentum.”
Suffolk last week showed Brown ahead 50-46.
