National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) was quick to put Tuesday's election results in Massachusetts in a campaign context for November, starting with embattled Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D).

Referring to Lincoln's approval ratings, Cornyn left little doubt he planned to focus on the Arkansas race this year with renewed zest, given the upset victory of Republican Scott Brown over Democrat Martha Coakley in Massachusetts.

"Despite the views of her constituents, she continues to vote for the Obama healthcare plan," Cornyn said. "As we found out yesterday, there's only so long that you can defy the wishes of your constituents and remain in elected office."

A Jan. 6 Rasmussen poll found Lincoln trailing all four of her possible Republican opponents, with just 35 percent of Arkansans approving of the health bill.
