McCain 'disappointed' in SCOTUS decision, still has hope
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) issued a short statement expressing his disappointment today in a Supreme Court decision striking down major portions of the campaign finance bill he sponsored.
SCOTUS struck down limits on independent expenditures by corporations and labor groups, but did not address the bill's ban on "soft money."
"I am disappointed by the decision of the Supreme Court and the lifting of the limits on corporate and union contributions," he said. "However, it appears that key aspects of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), including the ban on soft money contributions, remain intact."
