White House expects Bernanke confirmation
The White House believes Ben Bernanke will be confirmed in his bid for a second term, an administration spokesperson said today.
Lawmakers have expressed growing discontent with the Fed's actions under Bernanke's leadership, especially it's role in approving bailouts and failing to regulate the risk that led to the financial collapse.
President Obama still believes Bernanke is the "best person for the job" and expects him to be confurmed, said deputy press secretary Bill Burton.
Four senators have placed holds on Bernanke's nomination, and it's unclear whether his nomination will come up for a vote this month.
